Effective and last updated: July 28, 2026
1. Voluntary participation
I voluntarily choose to participate in strength training and related activities recommended or discussed by Academy of Strength LLC, whether performed in person, at home, in another facility, or through online programming.
2. Known and unknown risks
I understand that physical training involves inherent and other risks, including strains, sprains, falls, dropped weights, equipment failure, overexertion, abnormal blood pressure or heart response, aggravation of known or unknown conditions, serious injury, disability, and death. Online instruction may not allow a coach to observe my environment, equipment, or movement in real time. These risks can arise from my actions, the actions of others, equipment or premises, or ordinary negligence.
3. Fitness coaching—not healthcare
I understand Academy is a fitness-coaching service, not a healthcare provider. Academy and its coaches do not diagnose or treat an injury or condition, prescribe medical care, provide physical therapy or rehabilitation, monitor emergencies, or medically clear me to exercise. A training prescription, form comment, recovery check-in, pain field, automated hold, coach response, or Adult Election to Continue is not medical advice or a medical evaluation.
4. Health and training responsibility
I represent that I am legally competent to accept this waiver and will seek support from an appropriately licensed medical professional when appropriate. I will disclose relevant limitations, use appropriate equipment and safety measures, obtain a spotter when needed, and stop or modify activity if I experience pain, dizziness, chest pain, unusual shortness of breath, loss of control, or other concerning symptoms. If symptoms are severe, sudden, or otherwise an emergency, I will call 911 or local emergency services rather than rely on Academy.
5. Pain reports and automatic holds
I understand Academy uses pain and worsening-trend entries only as training-safety signals. Reporting pain may repeat the current workout, stop automatic load progression, and create a training hold. Academy recommends stopping or modifying the activity and considering support from a licensed medical professional. Academy may remove an exercise, require coach review, keep a hold in place, or decline further instruction when it believes continued coaching is inappropriate.
6. Adult Election to Continue
If I am at least 18 and a pain-related hold is eligible, I may voluntarily submit a separate, timestamped Adult Election to Continue. That election records my decision after Academy’s recommendation; it is not a “waiver of pain,” coach approval, medical advice, or medical clearance. It unlocks only the same repeated workout and does not cause the system to increase my prescribed load. If I report pain again, a new hold may apply. I understand Academy may still limit or decline instruction after my election.
7. No real-time monitoring
I understand pain entries, notes, videos, and messages are not monitored continuously or in real time. Coach response targets are business-day service targets, not emergency-response times. I will not use the service to seek urgent care or emergency assistance.
8. Assumption of risk
Knowing the nature of these activities and risks, I knowingly and voluntarily assume all inherent risks and all other risks described above, whether known or unknown, to the fullest extent permitted by law.
9. Release
To the fullest extent permitted by California law, I release and hold harmless Academy of Strength LLC and its owners, coaches, employees, contractors, and agents from claims for personal injury, death, or property damage arising from my participation and caused by ordinary negligence. This release does not apply to gross negligence, reckless or intentional misconduct, fraud, or any right that cannot legally be waived. I understand no waiver or election eliminates every potential claim or legal protection.
10. Personal environment and equipment
When training outside an Academy-controlled facility, I am solely responsible for choosing a reasonably safe space, inspecting and using equipment correctly, following facility rules, and ensuring adequate clearance, supports, collars, safeties, and assistance.
11. Emergency care
If I require emergency assistance during an in-person activity and cannot provide consent, I authorize reasonable efforts to obtain emergency care. I understand I am responsible for resulting medical costs.
12. Electronic acknowledgment
By checking the waiver acceptance box and typing my full legal name, I confirm that I have read and understood this document, had the opportunity to ask questions, and intend my electronic action to serve as my signature. Acceptance records include the document version, date and time, account, typed name, IP address, and browser information. A later Adult Election to Continue is stored as a separate versioned record tied to the applicable workout and program revision.
13. California law and severability
California law governs this waiver. If any part is held unenforceable, the remaining provisions continue to the fullest extent permitted by law.
